Wisdom Teeth

I'm getting my wisdom teeth removed. I hope I don't get obliterated. Either way, it'll be worth it — the erupting tooth has decided that it wants to send sharp, intense, stabbing pain directly to the closest eardrum. Kinda makes it hard to feel safe falling asleep when one accidental wrong move of my jaw causes pain that sleepy-me thinks is my eardrum like, exploding. It's made my already messed-up sleep schedule just that bit worse. Lately I've been sleeping in the day, and awake at night. When I have to stay awake during the day, my brain says, "Hey, let's just stay up 24 hours straight so you can sleep during the day instead of night". So, yeah.

They knocked me out for it and numbed my mouth a lot. It was kinda weird to wake up while they were still finishing up and feel them tugging at my mouth, probably doing the sutures. Didn't hurt, just felt like, well, a tug. Afterwards, you'll have to eat soft foods for a day or two and DON'T USE A STRAW. Sucking = bad for the wounds!
That does sound painful, and I hope you get relief soon.
As for sleeping cycles: yeah, I was guilty of flipping my nights and days during one of my bouts of unemployment. I do like being awake at night, it feels... alive, in a way. It really rankles me that I am getting Old and thus settling into a more normal sleep cycle. I mean, I'm still often up till midnight and asleep till 8:15am, but compared to my cycle when I was younger, that IS pretty normal.

Date: 2025-07-03 03:14 (UTC)Night is better for my light sensitivity, but I also find that late night is when I get most distracted by hyperfixations. I guess a bit of it is “day = productivity, night = fun, so if I don’t experience the day, there’s no guilt for only having fun!” or something. I’ll have to clean up my act somewhat for uni when the next semester starts. I’m going on campus more days per week than last semester, so I’ll have to full commit to either overall later hours or earlier hours.
