Very Tired Hours

The moment I finished everything for semester 2, my energy levels crashed.

I hope they pick up again, cause I can’t even bring myself to read anyone’s DW posts rn. I only have the motivation to check Discord, in terms of socmed interactions. Really, I’m posting this to see if I can encourage something to happen without draining myself further. Well, to further explain why I don’t have energy for DW specifically, I have some systems in place I want to stick to, but those do require more effort than I’m capable of committing right now. Yeah, that’s self-inflicted, but I don’t really want to approach DW the same ‘mindless’ way I approach Discord, I want to be thorough and consistent.

Other than that, I’ve gotten re-obsessed with Hyrule Warriors Legends, which is the 3DS edition of the first Dynasty Warriors x Legend of Zelda crossover.

The copy of the game I bought (I think before the pandemic?) was secondhand, and the person who owned it before didn’t erase the save data. I decided not to reset it either, partly because I didn’t want to lose access to what was unlocked (they hadn’t finished any gamemode anyway), and partly because I felt bad about the idea of personally wiping someone else’s work.

I’ve gone through a handful of fixation periods with this game, but this time I’ve already dreamt about the game and it’s not been even a month since I picked it up again! Last week, I went out with friends, but in the morning of, my half-asleep brain thought as I was waking up, “I wonder what the recommended weapon element is for this outing”.

The reason I thought of this game is actually because of Zelda (and Final Fantasy, I guess) challenge runs.

Recently, YouTube decided I should watch more of them, and they sparked my interest in playing the games again. Problem is, I’m not very good nor interested in the mainline games.

I think I brought this up before somewhere on DW, but I’ve touched MM, ALBW, maybe ALttP and OoT, BotW, HWL, and TFH if memory serves. Yet, out of all these games, Triforce Heroes and Hyrule Warriors are my most played. HWL and TFH because most activities are self-contained, and TFH because of the native multiplayer so I could game with GuiGui and Honguito. I’m just kinda sad I didn’t get to clear the final boss of TFH with them, but I am proud of doing it solo even though I suck at that (my hands were shaking SO bad at the end lol).

… I just realised those are major things I like about FFXIV; all the fun parts are infinitely replayable on a single save file, and you can play with others only when you want to and the co-op is actually good because it’s a big focus of the game. I guess I’m never gonna be a mainline Zelda player aha. Watching others play suits me just fine, though I do enjoy playing even such games when friends are involved.

Good to "hear" from you, though I'm sorry to hear you're exhausted. I hope that eases up soon! I understand about not having the oomph to do Dreamwidth at times. I'm pretty consistent with it now but I was trying to find a post I thought I had made years ago, only to discover that I went through a period of not posting to DW for, like, six months at a time. Oof. Don't feel obligated to respond back to this comment, if it's too much for you now; I'm just happy to know you're still around, even if in a much reduced capacity.

I haven't played much Zelda, but I've done challenge runs of various Final Fantasy games. I did four white mages in FFI (GBA version, I think? so cheating a bit) and in FFV, but not sure I ever finished the FFV run. I also did a single RDM run of FFI - that was definitely on GBA, and I got as far as the final boss but struggled to win.

I still love the idea behind the FFV Four Job Fiesta even if I am rather burned out by it. Same guy who runs the fiesta did a 3 character challenge of FFVI, and I had... Terra, Stratego and I forget the third one. It was an interesting challenge!

I've completely maxed out ALL jobs in the GBA version of FFV in the past, and was working on doing the same in FFIII DS but got bored.

IIRC, Kingdom Hearts 3 has a level 1 challenge option built in. I'd love to try it someday, just for funsies.

Thanks for saying hi ^-^ Yeah, I was debating about making this post, but even though I don't necessarily talk to that many people here, I still DO reply to some people consistently and I don't want to simply disappear like that! Especially when it's at least a little evident that things are not particularly good for me, going silent might imply something unpleasant...

Ooh, that's quite a variety! I don't tend to personally attempt challenge runs, though that's likely predominantly because I'm not much of a "replay the whole game" type of person, if I even finish the game at all. I will say that I'm definitely more attracted to the idea of a challenge run than a speedrun at least; fighting time has never been my strength aha.

Sorry to hear this time of the year has been EXHAUSTING, so can’t I blame you for getting in some Zelda time! It reminds me that I’ve only ever played Breath of the Wild and even then it was only for a few hours OWHXIDODIDO

I also agree about FFXIV!! There are some days where I wanna give up that game cold turkey, but I can’t deny that there’s stuff that keeps me coming back somehow!! That and my FFXIV OCs xD (Completely outside of the fact that I have houses to maintain so as much as I want to, I don’t think I could ever cancel my sub xD)

and AGREED, I know that like with any MMO, FFXIV could stop tomorrow, but there are some days where I log in on my OCs and just STARE at them b/c of how much they mean to me, so I could only imagine how you or others might feel ; u; I know quite a few folks have been taking their OCs' models from FFXIV and putting them through Blender for animations, so I agree that that might not be a bad idea xD
